Frequently Asked Questions

The first session is really about getting to know each other. I'll ask about what's bringing you in, a bit about your history, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. You don't need to have it all figured out, we'll start wherever you are. It's also a chance for you to see if working together feels like a good fit.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It's a structured approach that uses bi-lateral stimulation to help your brain process traumatic or distressing memories in a way that reduces their emotional charge. It doesn't require you to talk through every detail of what happened, which is one reason a lot of people find it helpful. We'd talk about whether it's a good fit for you before diving in.

Most clients start with weekly sessions, which helps build momentum early on. As things progress, we can adjust to biweekly or as needed depending on what feels right for you. However, if you prefer to start with bi-weekly that works too!

I offer telehealth sessions only, which means we meet virtually through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform.

If your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a superbill after each session that you submit to your insurance for reimbursement. I recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card and asking: Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? What is my out-of-network deductible, and have I met it? What percentage do you reimburse for out-of-network outpatient therapy? Is there a session limit per year? If you're not sure where to start, I'm happy to help you figure out what to ask.

I ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee. I know life happens, this policy just helps me hold your spot and keep my schedule consistent for all my clients.
